Sorry to hijack the thread ... how will it sound on a basswood body with rosewood fretboard and bolt-on maple neck ? A 81/85 that is ...

it will be kinda middy kinda not what EMGs are supposed to be for and still kind bright. EMGs are best in Mahogany its just plain and simple

the jb4 is a **** hole of a pick up, duncan push it as their flagship pick up, but i dont' see why. their invaders are **** too.

EMG is better than it by miles.

if anything, duncan sh-10 is good.

so the emgs arent worth it for maple body? an u suggest a neck and bridge pup for metal?

edit: the sh-10's lookin nice, hows it compare to an 81 in terms of gain/output?

well you can go 85 in the bridge and 60 neck. it'll even out, the 81 is the one thats really bright.

i'd just go passive if it were me.

Maybe look into Dimarzio Pickups Like a Super Distortion in the bridge and a PAF in the neck

dude..im not a fan of those pups....

but i think that the EMGs will sound good..mabey might need the 85 in the bridge...but they wont be soo bright that its like torture to your ears..its a really thrashy tone...middy and trebly..not a death metl tone at all..but i still like that tone with the wood choice
