My brother brought down his Schecter XXX and it played and sounded amazing. The neck was mad sick.

depends on the shape of your hands. try ibanez jackson esp or bc rich. les pauls are great guitars but the neck is way to fat for metal.

that's your opinion.

there are plenty of people who play metal w/ LP's

In your price range, Ibanez S470, very versatile... From metal to cleans etc...

No other guitar for metal in that price range is all that great.... You might find ajackson, but it will have crap hz emgs and a bad lfr, or the new shcecter c1's are in your price range, but the one with a trem is a crap lfr...

If your looking for a guitar without an FR
Ibanez RG321MH is half your price range, 24 frets mahogony body, aanj, wizard 2 neck, you'll have plenty of money left over for better pickups and then some....

Ibanez RG320 (Dark Silver) || Digitech RP50 || Mbox2 || Yamaha HS50M's
Ibanez Smash Box || Danelectro Danecho || Modded Crybaby
Peavey Bandit 112 Transtube

BC Rich's are good, but alot of them are for looks. Ibanez S series are good.

I have a Jackson Pro Series HSS set up. I can get alot of sounds out of it. I replaced the Bridge with a X2N though, so it's a shred machine now. You can get one for around 500 bucks. The Ibanez RGs are nice too. My other guitarist has one and it plays pretty nice...although I like my Jackson better :p.

Gibson has alot of different necks, ex. The 50s neck is really fat, while the 60s neck became thinner. You have to play and get the right feel for the guitar.
