But doesn't it seem a little stupid that everyone has a list of artist with nothing to say about them?

OK, what do you guys like better, Stray Cats or Brian Setzer Orchestra. I personally like the Brian Setzer Orchestra.

I haven't heard much BSO, but people seem to be talking about them alot lately. I should check them out. Brian Setzer is amazing.

Yeah, they just released an album last year (and Brian released another solo one). They still play shows, they've got like 5 scheduled know, but I think only in NY and California. They're definitely still around though. Just so you know, the first BSO album was released in 1994.

Robert Johnson, can't forget the grandfather of rock

He gets soooooooooo overrated because of Eric Clapton loving him. He was great, but he certainly wasn't "the grandfather of rock". There were plenty of other blues musicians that were equally influential to rock. Also, half the people that talk about him have never heard a note of his music.

And I forgot Carl Perkins, I don't think he's been mentioned.

Dude you need to look into some:

Screamin' Jay Hawkins (Heart Attack and Vine is incredible)
Stuff by the Meteors (who cares if their from the eighties)
The Reverend Horton Heat
http://www.myspace.com/thebuzzbombs (these guys!!!)
The Cramps
The Living End (one of the only good bands on the Warped tour)

I'm more into the contemporary rockabilly stuff but it still rules!

Nobody mentioned the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis yet...He's the best of them all..."Great Balls Of Fire," "Whole Lotta Shakin'," "Breatheless," "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-Odee..." classics, even thought he didn't write any of them.

Plus he's one of the few rocabilly artists who's still around, with an album coming out this year.

BTW, you can post about rocabilly in the classic rock forum, I did once and it didn't get closed.

yupp lol im worken on it.

in my high school we have this thing called spirit week. its pretty cool, all the grades compete against each other in a buncha events. one of them is a battle of the bands. we have to do songs from a certain theme and get judged on em... this is where im hoping to bring back some old school music.

ill try to keep this thread alive and update it when i get the theme.
