a lot of guitarists are good, but most fans exaggerate ....
I think 2 of them would be kirk hammett and kerry king...

I used to call kerry "robotesticle" coz he kinda moves and looks like a robot (the way he bangs his dead and his getup) and he kinda looks like a testicle w/ braided pubic hair man... hwohohooooo!!!

I agree but kirk hammett is overated for a reason he is in metallica and you cant deny what metallica did for metal music they are the greatest metal band of all time so hence he is of course considered the best metal soloist

Kirk Hammet.

edit: To the poster a few above me, Metallica is nowhere near the greatest metal band of all time, to name one would be impossible. It's all opinion really. That's not to say that Metallica wasn't influential, they were, and they got metal into the mainstream (good or bad?) but I still don't care for them none-the-less.

Amott is ****ing amazing, man.

I think every god damn one of those overseas bastards are sorely underrated, Laiho, Stromblad, Witchers, Bjorler, especially Bjorler, I could go on forever..

I'd say the Dragonforce guitarists cuz they're just so damn cheesy.

Your an overrated guitarist...

No, Kirk Hammett is, or Lucca Turilli...
Don't analyze my beliefs & I won't pick out the flaws in yours

I cant believe no one has said Zakk Wylde yet.

I hope that we could get some real metal out there. I guess A7X a start...
But nu metal does have its moments like Slipknot Mushroomhead and Korn.

Kirk Hammett (hasent made a solo that hasent sounded like everything else since Justice), Dimebag, Malmsteen (wooh one scale shredding, thats so great!), and Alexi.

Herman Li is very sloppy and gets far too much credit, for proof that they are not all that they're cracked up to be follow this link and look at their "Betcha can't play this" video. Herman slops up on an easy arpeggio, and Sam slops up on tapping.

Yeah, he was pretty drunk during that video, I think.

I mean for video like that you have time to prepare... wouldn't they want it polished before sending it out into the media like that??? wtf

how does messing up prove they're not all that great? probably just bad luck because a camera was on. i dont think they're that overrated, but just getting popular too quickly.

i loved kirk's thrashy solos on kill em all, but thats about it.

Well, I bet you can't play it!! lol

And Herman said it WAS pretty sloppy, at least he wasn't all "badass" and didn't even say he made some mistakes.

Kerry King too though, cause he does play REALLY well, and a lot better than me, but he doesn't do too much earth shattering stuff anymore, especialyl since a lot of the younger guys are pulling ahead.

This does not mean I don't respect him, he's just not the King os Shred anymore (no pun intended)

he was kicked out a few weeks before they recorded kill em all, but he might have had a part in some songs they wrote outside the studio, like seek and destroy.

you know those were written by mustaine don't you?(^^this guy above me is right) but, kirk hammett is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. if this wasn't metal guitarists i'd say cobain for sure, but since he isn't metal i'll go with dimebag. he's only as popular as he is now 'cause he's dead
