Anyone ever hear of this guy? I was watching an SRV interview and he was saying how Stanley Jordan is "so good its not fair." Heres a video of him doing Autumn Leaves.

Stanley Jordan - Stairway to Heaven

Don't want to be an actor pretending on the stage
Don't want to be a writer with my thoughts out on the page
Don't want to be a painter 'cause everyone comes to look
Don't want to be anything where my life's an open book

Stanley Jordan is quite good, his Elanor Rigby (sp?) sounds great as well.

Just to tell you, I'd would post this in the shred forum, as many more people will post, and/or respect him.

no, he's a quite talented jazz player. this was no gimmick, he could play incredibly. sometimes it's hard for people to look past the technical prowess and realize he's both a marvel and a damn good jazz guitarist. it's one of those cases where he's only not so immitated stylistically because people just cannot play like him, but can play like charlie christian (not a knock on him, i like him more in fact). look at his solo electric guitar "eleanor rigby". it veers from jazz to speeding thru, to however you can describe that incredible intro.

eleanor rigby

jazz you might recognize as jazz more: coltrane's "cousin mary'
"I see my light come shining from the west down to the east
Any day now, any day now I shall be released"

Know any good teachers in NY, especially skilled in teaching ear training? Tell me

He's possibly the most talented person I've ever seen.
As of now I'm on a mission to get as many of his albums as possible.

Words can't describe how beautiful that man's music is!

I very much dislike the timbre of tapped guitar like that. Ergo I don't really enjoy Stanley's music.
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt.
He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice.

Hey, I would've preferred it the other way around too.

Stanley Jordan is ridiculous. When I listen to him I wonder why he isn't more famous than he is.

I'm not a fan, though I respect the man.
Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up.
I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe
I was not offended
For I knew I had to rise above it all
Or drown in my own shit.

People say that he's the Malmsteen of Jazz (AKA pure technique, no feeling).
I call on BS both on Stanley, and on Yngwie.
