In The Midst Of Serenity, A Funeral Awaits

Death's expression brought upon by conflict
Clandestine truths remain untold
Forthright martyr outspoken against bloodshed
Distraught, lifeless, in the cold
Nameless sacrifice in this reverent practice
Self-rightous on both sides
Deceieved by your Lord in the name of justice
Have not the freedom to decide
Awaiting death's release

In the midst of serenity, a funeral awaits
Dressed in black, a congregation, at the cemetary gates
To die in glory for your country, To stand up for what is right
Is to murder the innocent, and die an innocent yourself
Awaiting death's release

As death approaches, our fate is set
And now enslaved to failing health
We make our departure
It was well written, although I did feel that it came off a bit preachy, especially the 2nd verse. I thouhgt the idea of telling both sides of teh story was intersting. I definately loved the first two lines of the second verse and the rhyming as a whole was very creative.

If can crit mine. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402453
