How are the effects on these amps? Can you have multiple effects on at once? Are they footswitchable? How many effects are there and what are they?

well on my AD120vt they sound pretty good, there's 4 sections of fx one with pedal fx such as wah (amp pedal board), auto wah, tube od, fat od, tremolo and so on (there are 10 in total), thers modulation ones with flanger and chorus etc (there are 5 in total), thers delay with a choice of normal delay, tape echo or multi-head and lastly thers a reverb section with a choice of spring, room or plate.

they are fully footswitchable (as are the channels) and there is an expression pedal for wah, volume and modulation rate control.

Umm...the AD120VT is one of the high-end Valvetronix amps. Which ones are you looking at, Xenn, the high or low end ones?

Low end: AD15VT, AD30VT, AD50VT, AD100VT

High end: AD60VT, AD120VT

All your answers are here, grasshopper.

^Are the high end ones a lot better than the lower end? Does the multi-footswitch work with all vox Valvetronix amps?

The low-end valvetronix only has 2 buttons and just switches channels. So you need to have your channels set to exactly how you want them. The higher end Valvetronix amps are amp versions of Vox's expensive multi-effects/modeling pedal.

^So, are the high end ones still good amps? I'm looking at buying a multi effects unit, but if I could get a much better amp that won't need upgrading and all the effects I want at once I'd be killing two birds with one stone.

the higher end ones are amazing. MUCH better hi-gain models, and everything is MIDI for the most part.

so you can save a preset a lot of settings.

How much do the 60 and 120 watt combos go for? I may be able to actually save myself some money, get the effects I want, AND upgrade fromt he MG!

^So...the 120w head is only $600 and the 120w combo is $1200?

I think this may be the way to go. If I could pick up a cheap or used cabinet with the 120w head it would be about the same price as what I paid for the MG (which I'd trade in ASAP and get the full amount back) and the cost of the multi effects unit.

Do you guys think that's a good idea? Would it make a good, lasting amp for practice, recording, and gigging?

I would think so...as long as you like it and you feel the footswitch offers you enough options for a live application.

^That's my huge problem. There's no Vox dealer near me, so I can't go try one out. Same goes for the multi effects units I'm looking at. And just about everything else besides Washburn and Jackson guitars. Oh. And low end Marshall amps.

Basically, I'd be trading in my MG and ordering the Vox with a cheap cab and the foot switch. I wouldn't get to try it first. Would it be fair to judge it by the soundclips of it on the Vox site?

I think for what you're thinking about playing on it (Mars Volta stuff, I should know by all your threads ) that it will be wonderful. You can get an amazing span of tones with the amp models, EQ and effects. Pretty decent effects since you can tweak them with an edit knob, bypass button, and tap button. Not sure if these are features of the AD60 or 120 but I'm sure it's similar.

Get it.

^Yeah..no kidding...This is what? My fourth or fifth topic? I'll definetly look into these some more tonight. I'll find some sound clips and get info on them...and see if there's ANYWHERE near me that carries them.

Thanks for the info everyone.

^The closest GC is at least 3 hours from me. It may be my only option though, and, if I could get a used one there for a bit less that would be great. It'll be a while before I could make the trip though.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good 4x12 cab to go with the 120w head?

^$800.

The 120w head is only $600, and if I would get a used cab for $200 it would be the same price.
