Does anyone else like to use an Ebow every now and then? I bought one from a friend for half price ($40) 2 months ago and I've been using it every now and then every few days. I've learned to get some pretty ridiculous sounds out of it, especially on my acoustic.

You kind of expect weird sounds out of an electric (volume swells, pinch harmonics, etc. etc. etc.), but not so much out of an acoustic, which is why I fancy the ebow on my acoustic. There are certain sounds that nobody expects to hear out of a wood box.

As far as day-to-day use goes, I don't put it to much use, and it's kind of gimmicky. However, I have (and will continue to) put the 'ambient noise' nature of the Ebow to good use on some recordings.

Anyone else?

They're definetly fun, and a cool 'trick' to pull out every now and then. Just FYI, I don't think they are not worth the $80 price tag. I would try to either buy a used one (although used electronics are often bad new bears), or haggle down at a Guitar Center or Sam Ash.
