this is one of my new favorite genres, especially because of how good it is live. i know i might get shi't for not havin this in the recommendation thread, but i think this genre deserves a thread of it's own because it isn't too well represented in these here parts. anyways, what are some of your favorite albums??

mine:

devourment-butcher the weak
deeds of flesh-crown of souls
immolation-pretty much everything
Lividity-fetish for the sick
cryptopsy-none so vile

and finally, my fav

SPAWN OF FUC"KIN POSSESSION!!

also, what are some of your favorite exerpts of dialog from brutal death metal songs.

i really like:
devourment's: butcher the weak....how it starts with the guy talkin about how havin sex with dead bodies is ludicrous
lividity- lacerations of an unclean cun't - "i want to cum on your panties." "don't you want to cum on my face" "what do you think i am, some kind of sick fuc'kin pervert?"

ha, gets me everytime.

Cryptosy - Whisper Supremecy
Hate Eternal - King of All Kings
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines

^ None of that is really brutal death metal in the sense of the genre.

Definately Devourment's Butcher the Weak. I like a few of the Disgorge albums, Beheaded, Suffocation of course, the newest Putrid Pile, Wormed (suprised not to see this mentioned yet), Lividity, and a bunch of local bands from around here.

Anoxia-Intense Killings
Brodequin-Festivals of Death
Deeds of Flesh-Path of the Weakening
Embryonic Devourment-Beheaded By Volition
Insidious Decrepancy-Decadent Orgy of Atrocious Suffering

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head...
Don't analyze my beliefs & I won't pick out the flaws in yours

brutal death does not necessarly mean gory, and yes all that stuff is brutal death metal.

Not Hate Eternal, or Nile...as far as I know, the actual subgenre of brutal death metal is meant for bands that combine classic death metal with grindcore/goregrind breakdowns and riffing style. Hate Eternal definately doesn't do that, and Nile is Ithyphallical death metal according to Karl Sanders.

well to me its brutal stuff. Hate eternal is constant blasting and speed riffing matched with gutural vocals. Nile has some "softer" stuff thats not as brutal but their heaviest stuff is to me. Non brutal death would be something like Vader or Obituary.

I like alot of it, but I get kind of bored listening to most. I'd love to go see the bands live, but I wouldn't really bother buying an album. But bands I think are cool:

Deeds of Flesh
Gorgasm
Exulcerate
Odious Mortem
In Flames
etc.

...although Cabinet ****ing pwns, I definitely don't get bored with that one.

I do agree with you. Some of the Hate Eternal/Nile tracks are as brutal as it gets. However, it seems that there is a genre that is named "Brutal Death Metal" just because it has grind influences. To me, that is quite misleading. I can't really se how something could be more brutal than some of the Hate Eternal tracks. Different? Probably. More brutal? I don't think so. But of course, I could be proven wrong. But I doubt it. I saw that AzureNight mentioned Suffocation as brutal death metal (the genre). While I agree that their stuff is brutal, I think that Hate Eternal and Nile can be just as brutal. The point of this is that I just think that the genre name "brutal death metal" is misleading.

Well, that's my opinion, at least

I don't beleive Cryptopsy or Spawn of possession are brutal in the genre sence, however they are very "Br00tal", but I think the correct genre is technical death..? (and I love both of those bands).

As far as those other bands go, I haven't heard much. And I'm a sucker for melodies and catchy tunes, so I can only listen to real brutal stuff once and awhile...like right now...*puts on open face surgery*.
