So I'm looking at buying an Orange AD30 and I notice that its speaker outputs are 2x8 ohms and 1x16 and the cab I'm looking at (a Basson oversized 4x12) has an impedance of 8 ohms. Is this a compatible combination?

lol dude.

I wouldnt trust people online when it comes to ohms.

Because, matching different ones up can blow your setup.

So be careful haha

Im sure pretty its just saying that theres two 8ohm outputs and one 16 ohm output. thats pretty standard on nicer amps.

Well, no ****?

I just don't know anything about it, so I figured I'd consult someone online rather than taking my chances.

EDIT
So would that mean that the Orange head and the Basson cab are compatible?

From what you say, 8 ohms into an 8 ohm output should be fine...

umm actually...not really. The worst it does is just wares your tubes out a little faster...and sucks a bit of tone...

yes if there is any kind of 8ohm output then they will be compatable.

Yea they're matchable.

So what did you think of the AD30 then? I've played one before, thought it was a very nice amp.

I got my hands on one on a trip out to California this past week. Great tone. Reminded me a bit of a Marshall in some respects. It handled everything I threw at it. It really isn't the one-trick pony everyone says it is. I'm pretty stoked I'll be getting it in a couple of months. I'm going to buy the Basson cab and refit it with V30's on top and G12-H30's on the bottom in the near future after I get it. I think it'll sound just as good, if not, better than an Orange cab when I'm done with it. I'm also going to buy a JCM900 after I buy the AD30 stack and AB between the two. I've got a lot on my list at the moment haha.

Hmm, how come you're gonna' AB them? Why not just save the money and buy a better amp? But if it's what you really wanna do, go for it.

I like both of them, so I figured why not buy both? I get what you mean, but it's not a quality thing, it's just what both the amps have to offer. I would use the Marshall for when I need that extra bit of gain and for solo work and I would use the Orange for my cleans and everything else.
