Hell I wasnt sure if this was the right thread but this seems to be the best one. My questino is when your in a band is there any sort of legal issues about coverings songs? Can you get in trouble for covering a song?

You can't get in trouble for just covering it, trying to sell it and market it, i.e. make money off it, thats when you need to pay lables that own it, the artists that own it, ect.

Said another way: Playing cover songs live is not a problem. The venue pays a fee to ASCAP or BMI to make sure writers get paid. When you want to record a song you have to pay a fee. The Harry Fox agency handles this: http://www.harryfox.com/index.jsp
