some amps are solid state, but some are tube. Usually tube amps sound better. Solid states haev transistors instead of tubes. did that make any sense at all?

The wonderful thing about tubes is, when they are overdriven, they dont clip. That is why most high end amps use them. The overdriving of the tube creates amazing distortion.
