Folky-doomy-powerish metal. I'm not quite sure what to make of this be honest. It's growing on me I think.
Thoughts?

IGNORE MY FOOLISHNESS HERE. SLOUGH FEG OWN YOU, WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO, AND MUST BE LISTENED TO.

What a cool name.

As for the music, its alright, but I'm not seeing the doom in them, its basically just old-school heavy metal with some folk elements. Not something I'd listen to a lot.

Meh, just some bits reminded me of the more up-tempo Sabbath/Pentagram songs.

I just found these guys from my Metal connection. All i have to say is ***KING WOW!! Why haven't i ever heard of these guys? I have the Traveller CD, which is a space themed album. Their riffs are so catchy and chugging that i instantly fell in love. I am a huge Power Metalhead and the lyrics are definatly that style. I wanted to bump this post to and get some awerness out. Visit their myspace and see them in chicago in June!

^ Same here. All the people above you said they're just "meh" but I find Slough Feg to be a really good band. I just got into them and they're already growing on me. I hope they go bigger than they are right now, they truly deserve it.

Did anyone get the new album Hardworlder? I can't find it in any of the stores close to me. I guess I'll have to download it.

Yea, I was just listening to Traveler and I realized the new album must've come out by now. I needs to get me hands on it.

In the time since I made this thread, they have become one of my favorite modern Heavy Metal bands.
The new one, Hardworlder, is great. Very Thin Lizzy esque.

I just looked up the online database thing on the music store I go to and they don't have it. I have to resort to downloading. Argh.

Slough Feg is on tour now, so all ye Americans get ready for some Hardworlder action. I'm seeing them on their first show, in San Francisco, and it's only a couple of weeks away. Hooray.

That is such an awesome name. Haven't heard the music though, and I am currently too lazy to do so.
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.

The title song is the best one in the album, methinks.

I can't go to the concert tomorrow because they're playing at a 21-over-only club.

I really wanted to see them. I wish I was two years older.

At least they're playing in the US at all...the last time they hit the UK was back in '04, and that was sadly way before I got into them.

their newer albums are really lacking...they need to take some time off from writing, a lot of the songs started to sound the same since the traveler album

I thought it was great, I love Hardworlder. To me, Atavism sounds the most lacking.

S/T? What's that?

I would start out with Traveler, for it's an awesome album and very receptive. I would then check out Atavism, Down Among the Deadmen, Hardworlder, and Twilight of the Idols in that order. Or whatever you want.

^ Hmm... Dunno if it's a real release then. I downloaded it to see what they were like, maybe it's mislabelled, but the album and artist are both down as "The Lord Weird Slough Feg"

Nah, thats correct, their first album was titled The Lord Weird Slough Feg, which is the name they went by at the time (these days it's simply 'Slough Feg')

LULZ at the negative attention this band receives. They've made amazing music over the past decade.

I'm really stoked on Twilight Of the Idols right now. The Wickerman is such a wonderful song, much better (and released way before!) than Maiden's.

Finally got Hardworlder, Traveler, Down Among the Dead Men and Atavism in the mail today! I only listened to a few random songs so far but off the top of my head, Sky Chariots, Tiger Tiger, High Passage/Low Passage OWN. I'm addicted to this band right now. Very unique/memorable sound they've got going. Some excellent guitar harmonies also!

" San Francisco’s veterans SLOUGH FEG will release their new album, “Ape Uprising” on the 8th of May in Germany and Europe, 11th of May in UK and June 2 in USA/Canada via Cruz Del Sur Music. "

“Ape Uprising” consists of eight tracks and it is undoubtedly the heaviest release in the twenty-year long history of the band. The band used the usual team for recordings, Justin Phelps and Justin Weis, later mastering the album at TRAXWORK studio. "

HOLY HELL! I didn't even know the Feg had begun work on a new album yet. 2009 just got a hell of alot better. On a side note: Weird album title/cover artwork.

Holy ****. I just came at that news. Slough Feg's release is going to be my most anticipated one of the year(behind the possible Solstice release). They haven't put out a single bad album yet.

Well, ofcourse it's going to be weird , Slough Feg have always been one of America's weirdest(and coolest) acts.
