My idea is to take a Fender Jazz Bass body, use the neck of a Fender Coronado 12-string, change the pickups to fender P bass pups, and then eventually have a 12 string guitar, w/ a bass body.

Will it work?

There are so many things that wouldn't work. Most notably, the strings would be too short.

Two sets of baritone strings?

The pickups would sound..... bad, and i doubt that every string would even get into the amp.

Main things....

1. the neck may not fit.
2. the pickups may not fit
3. the pickups may not have the sensitivity to pick up 12 strings.

If it's that easy to get a 12-string neck, find a guitar body that'd work well with it.

Well I have seen this guy who plays for Eric clapton, and he has the same thing, I'm pretty sure it is a Jazz bass body, w/ what looks like P bass pups. But I couldn't find any specs on it or anything. I'll try to find a picture.

Are you sure it's not an old Fender XII?
