when I use distortion I have two problems...
1-whenever I bend a string, it hits the string or two beside it and they ring when I unbend.

2-whenever I just play a note and lift my finger to play another note, the open string always rings.

3-I have problems making it sound good, muting the strings and such, but when I play with distortion it just creates a lot of extra noise

Thin necks make you play faster because guitars with thin necks sound thin and bad, and you play fast to distract people from the bad tone.
practice muting unwanted strings with your picking hand. use your pinky and if you need it your ring finger to mute the higher strings, and your palm to mute the lower strings.

either you are using some really harsh distortion or (more likely) you should focus a bit on muting.
