Is it just me or does everyone have that one brand that allows them to shred like its noones buisness, i played fenders and gibsons and i was ok at guitar, but the second i got my hands on a schecter i played like a monster, is it the same for you with your brands?
#2
I have a few favourite brands but not like how you say. I love ESP, Jackson and Dean, great looking guitars and sheet.
#3
I think its just they way they make there guitars, combined with a mind set thats like "If I play this guitar I'll shred" and then you seem to play better, I know Its easier for me to play a schecter or epiphone/gibson then it is for me to play a fender or Some Ibanez's,
#4
Wouldn't know. The only brand si've used for any length of time were Drive and Epi. And both were/are starter pack guitars.

I'd be happy to have enough money for a fender/gibson/ or shecter!

personally, i think guitar preference depends on the music style you like to play...
like Ive got an epiphone copy of an SG standard and an Ibanez RG170 an both of which are dapper for metal and fast songs... where as 'indies' generally prefer les pauls. least thats the stereotype ive seen

For Me it;s more the model, I have a strat copy (squier), and it only got me so far, but I got my hands on my Squier M-80, and my technique and playing has vastly improved, I'm really into band like Tool, and RATM, so it's great for that, and believe me when I say I had problems plaing some of those songs with a strat. I'm not a shredder yet, but I think by the time I outgrow my M-80 I will be...

Give 10 UGers a rope and ask them to pull. 4 will push, 1 will ask for buttsecks, 2 will tell you get an Ibanez and the last 3 will start complaining about Line6 Spiders.

i can play leads like a mother****ing riot on my washburn (idol), but not so well with the artcore my friend has been lending me. on the contrary, i am much more comfortable playing rythym on the artcore. its all about the groove and tone a certain guitar gives, it just makes you play a certain way. i mean that in a good way
#21
I don't have that... I like Ibanez SZs, LTD ECs and Gibson SGs, and they're pretty different guitars...
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

I use to play a Jackson and decided I didnt like it but as soon as I found Schecters thats when I started to really be able to play.
#32
Shredding is overrated.

And I really cant get into any other brands like Ibanez, ESP, Jackson, etc. You know, stuff like that. All I need are my Fenders and Gibsons, among other things such as Agile's.

All I need and use for acoustic's are Alvarez's, too. Not too expensive, and great guitars.

Very selective on what I like (playing wise), here's the list:
Gibson Firebirds
Schecter C-1s
Fender Telecasters
Dean ML's and Razorbacks.
Borderline:
PRS Single Cuts and Gibson Les Pauls

That's it!!
Current Rig:
Gibson Firebird Studio
Limited Edition Schecter 35th Anniversary C-1
Schecter Jeff Loomis Signature 7 FR
Ashdown Fallen Angel
Custom 7 Firebird from Ignition Custom Guitars (check them out)
