put in nothing but lipstick tube pickups, put a fender neck on it, and it should look pretty cool

if you want any kind of added humbucker would add tons more quality to your squiers sound, almost no matter what because i my-self think single coil pickups sound fuzzy and empty.

Draw some art/write a poem onto the pickguard.

Beat the crap out of it when you play.

Replace the neck with a lefty neck.

And put foil on the inside of the pickguard to reduce buzzing.

No, they are a different scale length and they are crappy anyways (only LP or SG bolt-ons would be from low end Epiphones).

That wouldn't work either, I don't think.

The ends of the necks are different (Strat necks are rounded at the end and Tele necks are more square.)
#11
its possible, look at the squier '51. strat body/tele neck.

I've still got some time this summer and I'm thinking about messing with my old crappy Yamaha electric. Any of you guys have any ideas for modding that? It's cheap and I'm pretty much willing to do anything to it.

It has a different body and the pickups are aligned differently though.

If you want a custom neck, check out http://www.warmoth.com/

They have necks that will fit a strat, but feel like a tele neck, or have whatever kind of headstock you want.

Good ideas are paint jobs (cheap, easy and fun if you don't go fancy), swapping out parts (slap a humbucker in your strat), swap out necks if you have a bolt on guitar (warmoth.com, great source, ebay is another, many bolt ons are interchangeable, check scale length), just go crazy, take a drill to it, take a sander to it, keep in mind my golden rule of modding

You can't mix active and passive pickups, so it's either all EMG or one.

Well you can, but it's EXTREMELY difficult.

Warmouth at warmouth.com sells a variety of different necks that will work with your Strat. They have them with a variety of headstock shapes. They can even make you a custom neck, but, they are pricey.
#24
I was thinking of doing the same with my Strat. Maybe putting an EMG-81 on the bridge, and two EMG-S in the middle and neck. Jackson headstock would look pretty cool to methinks.

Maybe even a splat strat style paintjob, although i'm not sure how successful that would be, anyone done it?

Paintball gun could be worth experimenting with. If I muck up the paint job then oh well...the guitar is about 4yrs old and battered as ****.
