Direct quote from the satch news page...

"G3 shows for South America and Australia are set: John Petrucci, Eric Johnson and I will play S.A and Mexico in mid October. Australia will see Steve Vai, John Petrucci and me in early December. Check satriani.com for exact dates.

That's all for now!

Joe"

I was kinda hoping for them to bring in guys that havent played G3 before, i mean petrucci rapes but he doesnt have any new material out, and EJ is cool but like I dont think that fitting for G3, not enough live presence.

And are you calling Becker repetitive? Explain yourself...

And it really would be nice to see someone new on the bill this year. I'm equally disappointed

Oh, my mistake. I thought he was saying Satriani's or Vai's music is repetative. I do think Becker is repetative, too much sweeping for my liking.

Erm, you sure you got all your info right? I just got the Vai newsletter and it says this:

G3'06 AUSTRALIA: JOE SATRIANI, STEVE VAI & JOHN PETRUCCI
Steve will be joining Joe Satriani and John Petrucci for a long-awaited G3 tour of Australia in early December. Check Vai.com in the coming days for exact dates, and details of our special EVO Premium Experience package.

Looks to me like Vai is there instead on Johnson...

Little repetive line-up, but I would still have loved to go. Has G3 ever come to Europe?

I'm tired of this Vai/Satch/Petrucci or Johnson crap.

First of all, there are more good guitarists than just those 4. Why not pick Guthrie? Or Mattias? or Gilbert? Or Friedman? or countless other guitarists that would at least change the lineup?

Then, on top of that, once the DVD comes out, all the guitar/shred noobs are like "G3 OMg Can"T WaIT 2 GeT DvD ROFL!!1!" And all you hear is how great Vai and Satch are. It just pisses me off.

I agree. How many dvd's have been released? and you get Satch and Vai playing their same old songs with Eric Johnson and John Petrucci on every one. Where they occasionally throw in someone else like Yngwie Malmsteen. Even though Satch and Vai did create the tour I think they should step aside for a few tours and not have themselves featuring on every G3 DVD.

Well I think Satch and Vai definitely should come with on the g3 tour, but they should have a new guitarist every year/tour.

I understand & sympathize, but doesn't Satch kinda own G3?

in the sense that he came up with concept or something?
I'm not entirely sure, but something along the lines of that...
