Hey guys, I'm going to purchase a new amp in the coming week or so, and I'm looking for some advice.

So far I've narrowed my search down to 2 amps:

Crate V16 Palomino 15W Class A Tube Combo Amp
and the
Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo Amp

Both cost the same amount, about $400, but the Peavey is 50W whereas the Crate is only 15W.

However, having played both, I can't tell that the Crate amp is any less wattage than the Peavy because it is farking LOUD, probably loud enough to gig with.

I play mostly bluesy/classic rock type stuff with some harder AC/DC or The Who influenced riffs thrown in for fun. Which of these two amps is my best bet, and is there another one I should check out in the $300-400 range?

Fender Hot Rod Devillile. Fedner Blues Junior. The Hot Rod is over your price, but its worth saving up and getting it and a Distortion Pedal for the harder stuff.

yeh for blues but for ac/dc not really since the overdrive channel is more of a volume boost than anything else

I was considering the Blues Jr. when I was shopping around but while it sounds supersweet clean the gain leaves a little to be desired. I'm leaning more and more towards the Crate.

^I agree, I bought a blues jr. for a practice amp and fell in love with the clean tube sound. Just add a distortion pedal for the harder stuff. i think it costs around 400 dollars. I play it almost more then my twin reverb haha.

Like I said. Ge tthe blues, and get a nice heavy hard Distortion And/Or overdrive pedal and use that for you heavy stuff. It works.
