I have a bc rich bronze warlock (my friends) which is really quiet when plugged in. We replaced the pots in it, and it still does it. Could the pickups be dead, or could it be the ground, or something else?

Chances are its just a loose wire in your guitar, I had a similiar problem with my solidac it just needed a bit of soldering, the shop did it for free.
#9
like i said. i just soldered in new pots. and made sure the ground was ok.

I think your guitar just has passive pickups. Passive pickups never have a high volume output.
#11
no. i have to turn my 50 watt tube amp with 2 12's almost half way up to hear much of anything. and it sounds clean on the distorted channel. i know they are passive.

did you check your output jack? a contact piece may not be connecting properly or there may be a lose wire down there
#14
theres only 1 wire to the jack and its snug. but i know its not the cable, we're using a monster on it now, and all my other guitars work with it just fine. i shall check out the jack again more thoroughly though.

plug in the cable, then look at the connectors on the input jack, make sure that both of them are sitting on the jack properly
#16
i just replaced the jack and it still does the same thing. When i turn the pot, it buzze's between 1 and 10, but not at either 1 or 10.

sometimes a guitar will act similar to this if u mix up the hot and ground on the jack.

but u said it all started before u touched any of the electronics? (even at the pots?)

are you sure that your ground is right, and that your pups are all wired properly? sometimes it can be the stupidest thing that you mess up
#19
nah, it started when it was all stock. then i re soldered new pots in (Exactly how they came out) and the jack (the same way). I'm starting to believe that the pickups are dead or something similar.

its going to be a wire, because both pickups wont just conk out.

and it happens no matter the switch select right?

Then it follows that you need to work out which is the ground and which is the live. If they're coming out of the same sleeving, and you've connected them as one wire, then the majority of the output is grounding right out.

A friend of mine had the same issue with a pair of headphones, basically. The ground, right hot and left hot wires were sleeved together, and he'd stripped the wires to replace the jack. When he replaced the jack, he'd allowed the hot and ground wires to touch one another bare.
The upshot was, I wrapped electrical tape around the hot wires to stop them grounding out, and the headphones worked better than before.

Basically, it would appear that the problem is caused because you've connected the ground and live wires to the same point, so the majority of the output is grounding right off the bat.

well, its still possible that he means, they coupled the ground and hot in one sleeve (to push it thru the routing) and it looks like one wire merging into two.

important would be to know specifically if there is one wire to each lug.

its exactly like the pic that didnt show up before. and the white wire is hot, while the other wire is ground. and they arent mixed. I resoldered it EXACTLY as it was when it came out.

If you had problems before, and have problems still, then it's a matter of experimentation.

I'd say, see if the back of the volume pot has any solder touching the lugs.

After that...

Experimentation.

The ground on the volume pot wasnt touching. BUT it was on the old pot.. so that pot must've died. It works now though.. I feel dumb. i just looked at it and was like.. Well tahts not even touching.. and i bent the arm a bit, and boom sound

edit.. nvm that wasnt even it. I moved it away from the thing, and it still works. IDK but it works :X

sometimes a wire just needed a better connection, and by moving things around u got it to work.
anyway, glad it worked out for you.
