I think that there was a thread about them a while ago, but I'm not sure. But anyway, the Dead Boys are awesome.

Me.

Thats like asking Henry Rollins if he likes being a god.
"This shit here's called Death"
"What the fuck? You mean I'm gonna hit this shit and die?"
"No Nigga! I said Deaf. You hit this and you aint gonna hear shit!"

You guys are still into Henry Rollins jokes, I've passed that stage a while ago.

And the Dead Boys are one of my favorite bands.

Three main points:

1. Henry Rollins jokes > Chuck Norris

2. Looooooove the Dead Boys

3. this thread can't really go anywhere from here.

I like them lots. Did anyone ever hear a song of theirs called "the nights are so long"? It was written by the signer of Hanoi Rocks, but Dead Boys recorded a version. At first I thought it was mispabeled, but you can tell that it's Stiv singing. Anyone else?

I love the dead boys. Young, loud and snotty is probably my most played cd at the moment. Its a perfect album, all of the songs are brilliant.
I was a bit worried for a while when I read some misleading info, but all's well now.

I was wondering what their music was like after the dead boys though. Has anyone here heard anything by Lords of the new church? What're they like?

One of their best moments is the song they do as "The Blender Children" in the movie "Tapeheads".
Other good songs by them are "New Church", their cover of "Question Of Temperature", "Eat Your Heart Out", "Lil Boys Play With Dolls", "Holy War", "Method To Our Madness", "Pretty Baby Scream" and their cover of "Hey Tonight".

Also, check out the Wanderers.
It's Stiv singing with Sham and the song "No Dreams" is great.
The lyrics to that song are errily prescient.

I don't like straight edge because it's part of Hardcore, and I don't like Hardcore because, aside from the terrible music, the kids are often very homophobic.

You forgot ugly, lazy and disrespectful.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

I think while the Dead Boys rock, they were one of the least original acts to come out of Cleveland. And by original I mean interesting.

I read an interview where the members of The Electric Eels all say that Stiv used to follow them around trying to copy their attitude and weirdness.

Dead Boys are awesome. Rocket From The Tombs are awesome too. RFTT was the precursor to the Dead Boys and they have played a couple of reunion shows around Cleveland in the last few years. It's great to see Cheetah Chrome, Jimmy Zero, Johnny Blitz and Richard Lloyd playing 15 feet in front of you at the Beachland Ballroom. They had a Stiv Bators tribute show 2 or so years ago and his parents were there.....that was an awesome show.

Love the Dead Boys. Cheetah Chrome lives here in Nashville and still plays every once in a while.
