Hey, which pedals are the best for distortion/overdrive for metal/classic rock/instrumental music...is an original pedal [like Boss DS-2] better than a modeling pedal like ones from Digitech [not their RP series]. Also, which is best for overdrive? The Ibanez tube screamer? I got a Vox AD50 so I was thinking of buying something new to give it a boost if its needed. Any suggestions?

Stevie Ray Vaughan used the tubescreamer, but I can replicate his tone near perfectly using a BD-2. Save about $100 and get the BD-2.

STV used a TS-808, they go for about $160 new. The BD-2 goes for about $80 new. I say you get the TS-9 for $100. Its more versitle then both those pedals, if a little less warm then the TS-808.

Oh, and I can argue that U2 and Nirvana don't suck.
