I want a good distortion sound. I play lots of slayer metallica pantera yngwie malmsteen. Should i get a Marshall Mode Four or a Carvin V3412-30

Although I'm a HUGE carvin supporter, I say neither. Go Randall on this one.

JCM900 FOR SELL!

Maybe consider a Marshall JCM800? It should give you a pretty good Slayer, Yngwie and (Early) Metallica sound if you got an overdrive pedal too. You wont really get a great Pantera tone without a really good solid-state amp, and for the rest of those tones, you'd really want a tube amp.

What's with the sudden interest in the Mode Fours? This is like the 3rd thread I've seen today asking about them.

Of the two, Carvin for sure.

However the Randall suggestion is a very solid one too.
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

I don't see how Randall came into this, they're good amps, but would they really be the best for these tones?

A good Randall SS for Pantera yeah, but the rest?
