I've just bought a Peavey XXX combo (used).. and noticed it's not the current super 40 version.. but an earlier model.

Is the version before the super 40 still good? I noticed it keeps the tone controls seperate for the clean and crunch.. which is an added bonus.

It means you can get it louder before it breaks into natural overdrive, on the clean channel.
These go to eleven...

so is there more headroom on the new or old one? and the tonal difference.. is it better or worse?
