I've been playing guitar for a few years now and never took the time to learn to sing while I play. I'd like to learn but most of the songs I play are difficult to sing at the same time. What were the first songs you guys learned to sing while you play?

One of the easiest songs to sing and play at the same time that I find is Imagine by John Lennon, or virtually anything by The Beatles, or as previously recommended Nirvana.

I learnt to do it offa wonderwall actually.
You should probably know the words, and the chords aren't too bad :-)

Any song written by a guitarist that has to sing at the same time will be naturally easier to play. Nirvana is a good example of this.

The first song I learned to play and sing at the same time was Under The Bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers Somthing about the guitar makes it easy for the lyrics to just flow through. at least thats how it is for me.

that's the first song i learned to play and sing at the same time. it's actually also the first song i learned to play all the way through. a good one would be johnny cash's cover of "hurt" very metered strums, with some simple arpeggios

That was mine also, next would be badge by cream. Theres nothin better than playing a decent rythme guitar along with the vocals, and then ripping in to an awesome solo. To me thats what guitar playing is all about.

Mine was Blackbird by the Beatles. A lot of Beatles can get you multitasking quickly.

good riddance by greenday. Greenday songs are really easy to sing and play at same time.

but at the moment ive progressed to trying to learn all against all by the haunted, and its prooving very difficult.
