hey i have a 8ohm mesa head and i found a good deal on a cab but its 16 ohms,,,,ive heard that the ohms on a head and cab HAVE to match or something breaks.

this is my first experience with tube amps and cabs soo ,,,dont bash me

will an 8ohm head work with a 16ohm cab???

It should be alright to have a mismatch where the cab has a greater impedance than the amp. It's the other direction, where you have a smaller impedance cab than the head, where it puts a stress on the amp. When it sees a lower impedance than it's expecting, it will push more current than the amp was designed for, which can mess up the transformer. When it sees a higher impedance than it's expecting, the amp will run a little cooler, and it supposed to give a slightly darker smoother tone, with less output and attack.
