The Official UG Thrash, Death and Black Metal playlists creation thread

I was in a bookshop the other day, and at the counter, they had a stack of books called "The Ultimate iTunes Playlist Collection"
Anyway, I opened it up to T for Trash Metal, to say the least - I was not impressed, Lamb of God and Avenged Sevenfold were present.

So I had an idea, for the members of Ultimate Guitar to create their own 'ultimate' playlists, for the four main genres discussed in this forum of Thrash, Death, Black and Power Metal.

These are the rough but not-strict guidelines:
1. You may post a maximum of ten songs for each genre, that in your opinion epitomise the style, charisma, appeal etc./whatever of the respective genre.
2. You do not have to contribute to every genre, for example, you may only want to post your contribution on Death metal
3. You are not allowed to flame other people's suggestions, if they're truly crap, they won't appear on the 'official' playlists. However, you may debate the relevance of their suggestions to the respective genre.
4. Live tracks and covers do not count.
5. You may put a comment next to your track submission. This comment should be no longer than one sentence.
6. ONLY ONE SUBMISSION PER BAND. This will ensure diversity.
7. No genre-based arguments. i.e. Goregrind, grindcore belong under Death Metal, but say for example, if someone posts Symphony X under Black Metal, this submission will be disregarded until it is put into the correct catagory.

The final creation of each playlist will be a consortium of the twenty most popular contributions under each section.

I guess I'll be doing all the tallying myself, and i'll probably do that in about a month.

My contribution:
Thrash Metal:
1. Fight Fire with Fire - Metallica
2. Angel of Death - Slayer
3. First Strike is Deadly - Testament. (the dual harmony interlude ****ing slays)
4. Arise - Sepultura
5. World in a World - Vio-Lence
6. Elimination - Overkill
7. Wake Up Dead - Megadeth
8. Toxic Waltz - eXodus
9. Alison Hell - Annihilator
10. Curse the Gods - Destruction

Death Metal
1. Sacrificial Suicide - Deicide
2. Beyond the Unholy Grave - Death
3. The Leper Affinity - Opeth
4. Chapel of Ghouls - Morbid Angel
5. In The Name of Gore - Exhumed
6. Incarnated Solvent Abuse - Carcass
7. Skin Her Alive - Dismember
8. Benedictine Convulsions - Cryptopsy

Black Metal
1. Fandems Allheim - Borknagar
2. A Fine Day to Die - Bathory
3. One by One - Immortal

2) Floods - Pantera (Crazy Harmonic riff)
3) Souls of Black - Testament (Awesome Bass intro)

huh

Basically, just post your top 10 songs from each genre, following the guidelines in the first post, unlike the guy who posted below you, who put two songs from one band.

The idea is that we create an 'Ultimate UG playlist/best of' for each genre... Thrash, Power, Black and Death Metal.

You've got Immortal in your Avatar.. post something under Black metal.

I guess I'll go with death metal:

Morbid Angel - Rapture
Malevolent Creation - Decadence Within
Deeds of Flesh - Reduced to Ashes
Origin - Staring from the Abyss
Nile - Sacrifice Unto Sebek
Necrophagist - Foul Body Autopsy
Spawn of Possession - Church of Deviance
Amon Amarth - Versus the World
Dark Tranquility - The New Build
At The Gates - Cold

The beginning is more old school, the middle is brutal/tech stuff, and the ending is the more melodic stuff. I'd say that would give someone a good idea of what most death metal would sound like.
#8
Thrash
Metallica - Battery
Slayer - Raining Blood
Megadeth - Hangar 18
Pantera - Immortally Insane (KILLER chorus riff.. can't get enough of it)
Anthrax - Anti-Social

Black
Dimmu Borgir - The Insight And The Catharsis (Shag's vocals sound almost psychotic when he starts the "Let the children come to me" part, you guys should get a kick out of it.. i love it).
Venom - Countess Bathory (Classic black metal)
Children Of Bodom - Deadnight Warrior (Mix of black and thrash, so I'll leave it up to you guys to decide).
Cradle Of Filth (also not true black metal, but it's the closest thing to their true label) - Born In A Burial Gown
Emperor - Night Of The Graveless Souls
Gorgoroth - Destroyer
Immortal - Damned In Black
Mayhem - You Must Fall
*EDIT* Behemoth - Conquer All

Death
Cannibal Corpse - Frantic Disembowelment (FTW!!)

Sorry about some of my category choices, especially with cradle of filth. That was the closest thing i could find.

^Dude, Children of Bodom aren't Black Metal. Even if you considered them to be that, they wouldn't be an accurate representation of what Black Metal sounds like.

very true, but you gotta admit alexi's vocals can be very similar to common black metal. not always, but it's there. thats why i said, its like "almost-black" vocals, with thrash guitar and f*cked up keyboards.

No, god damnit, No.

Alexi sounds like hes gargling ****. The guitars arent "Thrash" and the vocals arent "Black Metal" and nothing about CoB is anything good at all, just a bunch of Yaowing and ripping off Yngwie Malmsteen among other artists. "on the odd occasion a black metal-esque vocal" doesn't give you the true representation of BLACK ****ING METAL. The best representation of BLACK METAL would be.. BLACK METAL? Not Children of Bodom. One of SIX things doesn't even come close to giving you an accurate reading of black metal. Maybe if they had tons of blastbeats, trem picked guitar diminished or minor guitar riffs, exceptionally harsh vocals (not yaowing) or a possible symphonic aspect you could consider it black metal.. not ****ing yaow yaow yaow yaow bull****.

As you can tell, I strongly disagree in my drunken angry posting.

My weirdest dream would have to be when I dreamed that I met this chick I really liked and wanted to practice sex, so I practiced on some guy I met at a gas station...that was pretty screwed up.

No, it really isnt

...Are you calling them thrash or death? I just put it there because I got to the bottom of my music library and realized there were no more DM bands. Plus, come on, throw in some DM vocals and change the tempo a bit and you've got death metal.

Yes really. This will not turn into another "LedZeppelin doesn't know what he's talking about LOL" fest. Slayer influenced death metal hugely, especially RiB. I maintain that the lyrics, riffing style, and solos on that album are pure DM, and if you downtuned the guitars and slowed the tempo you would have an early DM album.

Bitches.

Well if you uptuned the guitars and sped up the tempo you could have a pop album.

But it isn't one.

Its a thrash metal album.
