ok, so most people who like punk have a couple of records or are record collectors.

this threat is basically made to show off your records. post pictures/lists of the vinyl you own or just discuss vinyl related stuff

same here, i started last year and i only have 10 records. why must vinyl collectiong be so expensive?

To be honest, I don't own any records. I do most of my listening at work on my mp3 player or on the computer, and I can't put records on either. My dad has a record player he uses every so often, but I don't have any records and I don't listen to most of his, although he does have a few good ones, even though he doesn't listen to punk.

Right now i am listening to my only record...knugen faller's inte som ni (which i got yesterday)
i'm planning on starting a vinyl collection.
well, my parents gave me their record collection, but the only records in it worth listening to are an elvis greatest hits record, a 'greatest hits of rock n roll', and a little richard w/ jimi hendrix record.

don't just collect punk vinyls...you DO like other types of music right, at least you would hope...

if you shop and thrift stores or garage sales, you can get some amazing finds for under $1 guaranteed. some of my favorites off the top of my head are Led Zepellin IV, LZ - Presence, Pink Floyd - The Wall, PF - Dark Side of the Moon, AC/DC Dirty Deeds (American release), AC/DC - Back in Black, Gang of Four - Sounds of the Free...now, i have other things to spend money on and i dont have a job, but thrift store shopping would explain why after about 2 years that i have about 80 vinyls.

but, seeing as this is the punk forum...i do have a few punk/hardcore/modern rock ones, not many though honestly...

Internal Affairs - Casualty of the Core
Internal Affairs/Last Nerve split, limited edition translucent green
Gorilla Biscuits - Gorilla Biscuits
Sons and Daughters - Dance Me In single
(as mentioned) Gang of Four - Sounds of the Free
Bad Religion - Atomic Garden, limited edition picture cut on B-side
Raised Fist - Dedication
Youth of Today - Break Down the Walls
Dead Boys - All This and More
Black Flag - Six Pack single
Flogging Molly - Swagger

and...(The Historic Recording of) We Are the World

It only goes for that much cause of scenesters.Ive seen the original first pressed at record swaps and **** for like 25-40.And the record is no way worth 300$ but i have seen it go for that much to.They probably pressed about 500 new so its really not to rare , specialy if you think about all the tour records that only press like 25 or the early havoc recs that only had 100 of each.

See a few years ago i could the gism record being cheaper but now this record can be expensive and it is because of stupid kids i was looking for some old Gauze and lip cream records they were going for 200. I would think a rare punk record should be still cheap.

The reason GISM records are so expensive i think is because they have that whole cult status thing.

And im sure Those early havoc releases are gonna get up there. but i think that the tour records are the rarest though. But havoc is usually good about making large amounts per press.

I've got roughly 400 records of my own purchase. Have stolen some from my parents collection as well, but I don't like to include those as mine, as they're not.

Not a ton of punk, but I've got stuff like Husker Du, Braid, Bivouac, Please inform the captain this is a hijack, The Ergs, Drive Like Jehu, Karate, Christie Front Drive, Franklin, Sebadoh, Slight Slappers, Brrr, The Yah Mos, and other stuff like that. More alt rock over punk, but a collection of stuff that I enjoy.

I've got tons of vinyl, but it's in storage until I move into my new crib.

I've got coloured vinyl by Hanoi Rocks, Iggy, Dead Boys, Thunders, a Hanoi Rocks picture disc, an orange vinyl Deadbeats "Kill The Hippies" 45 on Dangerhouse and a few more that I can't think of right now.
I've also got the Ramones "Leave Home" with "Carbona Not Glue" and Dead Boys "Young Loud and Snotty" on 8 track tape, which although not vinyl, is tres cool.

I've got a bunch of albums that are autographed to me, such as the first X 45 on Dangerhouse, Sham's "Tell Us The Truth", first Stooges LP, the New Race LP, a Lime Spiders 45, and a few others.

My rarest gem is my Dead Boys "Young, Loud & Snotty" LP, which is autographed to me by Stiv and Cheetah.
No idea what that would go for on eBay now, but a Japanese record dealer offered me $1,000 for it about 10 years ago.

EDIT: I know that Misfits 45s go for alot of money now, but there's no way that people are paying $8,000 for one.
Here's an original Halloween 45, that's currently at $78, and I doubt it will sell for more than $200 or $300.
