I love John Frusciante, and in fact, not only is he the reason why I also love guitar, but is my biggest guitar idol to date. I do feel, however, that the Chilis is also an incredible band and without John, it would definitely decline. I personally really liked Stadium Arcadium, so to me, they are only getting better with each release.

Oh, and the last season and an exercise are two amazing songs. Although, they are all truly sublime.

I got Inside of Emptiness yesterday. I was listening to it in the car driving to a mates house and it sounded pretty awesome. Very different from the other things I have by him.

ive had shadows collide for a while now, and it is a great album, but i found i cant listen to it alot, tbh ive not listened to it in about 2 months and before that, it was about 6 months...its just i have to be in a certain mood to listen to his music.

i got curtains last week and thats another great album, the past recedes is an awesome song and so is ascension, they are my favourites of the album.

and im downloadin the acoustic shadows now thanks for the tip

Since I got into music I've always listened to the chilis, never took much notice of how great Frusciante was, untill I started getting big into guitar. I think he is the best guitarist around, and I think The Chilis worse period was with Navarro (Sp?) What were they thinking (No offense to Navarro fans but jeesus)
So our lesson for today and every other day is
JOHN FRUSCIANTE = GOD

I was refering to before Frusciante. He was saying he didn't consider the Chilli's the chillis without Frusciante. My point is they were around before Frusciante. Frusciante joined in 1989. So actually 3 before Frusciante.

i didnt say that frusciante was their only guitarist. i just said that they wouldnt be the chili's without john because he plays a huge part in the sound and creativitly process. and Conky still proved you wrong about the six guitarist thing, and who gives a dman if he listed them all cause there was a couple in there i didnt know about.

Dude, fricking relax! I wasn't attacking you or him. I was just saying there were 3 guitarists before Frusciante joined so the Chillis were the Chillis before Frusciante and they were damn good. Different sounding but good. So, no, he didn't prove me wrong because there weren't 6 guitarists before Frusciante only 3. Take the time to read my responses before you go off.

i ain't the one freaking out, and i did read your posts. you said in one post that there was 6 guitarists before frusciante. then conky named them all off them and therefore proved you wrong by staing there was really only 3.
I was living a lie, now I'm dying to know the truth...

Then you should learn to read. I said there were 6 and said *I think*. See:

Quote by Liam Alan
I kind of agree since I consider Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik their best album but Chillis had about 6 guitarists before Frusciante (I think 6). But his RHCP stuff dwarfs his ability so much. Frusciante's solo stuff is so huge it is overwhelming. I honestly consider "Shadows Collide With People" to being as close to a perfect album as possible.

Then he listed all of them by stating 8. NOT correcting me on the 3. He thought I was talking about ALL the guitarist NOT the ones before Frusciante. See:

Quote by Conky420
Jack Sherman (Guitar: 1984-1985)
Hillel Slovak (Guitar: 1983, 1985-1988)
Duane McKnight (Guitar: 1988)
John Frusciante (Guitar: 1989-1992, 1998-Present)
Zander Schloss (Guitar: 1992)
Arik Marshall (Guitar: 1992)
Jesse Tobias (Guitar: 1993)
Dave Navarro (Guitar: 1993-1998)

so, 8

Then "I" corrected MYSELF by saying 3 before Frusciante. I said 3 not Conky. See:

Quote by Liam Alan

OK? You can go back and look. No edits were done. We were discussing it calmly until you chimed in. This whole thing got blow up retardedly just because I was giving my fricking opinion on the chili's before Frusciante. So if you aren?t going to follow the conversation properly let it go.

john is a great guitarest but when it comes to live performances he ruins the song by changing the solos or chords. If u ever listened to californiacation or scar tissue live u'll no what i'm talking about, he completely changes the solos and it sounds crap.BESIDES THAT HE'S BRILLIANT!

His improv solo's are fantastic. The ones he does in Californication are loads better than the studio ones.

John is such a knowledgable musician, and an awesome guitarist. He is my biggest inspiration and I am a huge fan of his solo work; also the Chili Peppers are my favorite band. I'd love to meet him and sit down and have a chat with him; he would be such a fascinating person to talk to.
It's very hard to find his solo stuff and I don't like downloading store-released music, although I've downloaded the acoustic version of SCWP and the free internet album, From The Sounds Inside. Great stuff.

I really want to get more though. The stuff on his site is awesome too especially the acoustic SCWP. John is the biggest inspiration to me musically. I really respect him

Like the greatest cover ever. I had that on my video ipod and listened to it every night before bed (before I left it on a plane >_> ). I got someone to tab it out for me and its on the site I believe if anyone wants it.

i love john frusciante, i like his solo work more than his rhcp stuff but even then the rhcp stuff is still amazing

lets see of his stuff i have

shadows collide, curtians, inside of emptiness, dc ep, ataxia, a sphere in the heart of emptiness, JF Online releases, niandra ladies and usually just a t-shirt, and the will to death....

i really want to get all of his cds, i'm almost there but his other cds are harder to find so i'll keep working on that....

i think my favorite songs of his right now are...

your warning, omission, the mirror, time tonight, and dissolve
#66
^there is not gonna be a vid of him sweep picking, he probably can, he says hes influenced by everything, and he has learned some classical stuff lately and i know quite a bit of that requires sweeping...

but really sweep picking has never had a place in a chilis song, and probably never will...thats how i see it anyway...
#67
what exactly is sweep picking?

QUESTION...

i was wondering if anyone can fill me in... Can John sweep pick?
If so does anyone have any clips of him doing so?

im pretty sure he can...a lot of guitarists can but they just don't put it there songs. its one of those things where its nice to know how to do and might eventually come in handy one day. then of course you also have the people who use it constantly

i just bought niandra ladies....at BEST BUY?!?! they never have rare cd's, or the ones im looking for but i saw it sitting there and snatched it. haven't listened to it yet though

Does anyone have the video of john sitting down, it looks like on a couch, and he's playing an acoustic, just doing chord inversions, i think it's about a minute and a half, and he's singing along? I really liked the way he was playing.
