I tries one in a store and was totally unimpressed... on the other hand, I tried it through a flextone cos the bastards couldn't be bothered to move it so I could play it through something tube.

That's the thing, modellers don't impress you with stock settings. It takes tweeking, like every other amp that exists, to get a good sound. Also, they don't shine their best through guitar amps. Put them through a PA or keyboard amp and you'll get the best sound out of them.
