I think most shredders enjoy most music.

And if they don't, they should.

Yup, I should imagine so. Most virtuoso's appreciate all styles of music, and classical is one of the main and most influential styles ever.

most shredders (and basically any virtuosos) tend to have broad musical tastes

it's obvious that most shredders dig classically-based music, but that's not all that they listen to (for the most part anyways)
#15
yeah im not sayin that
im just sayin we prolly more than any genre like it
except for the classical genre

I like most of the music in the Baroque and Classical eras, but not most Romantic.

that's also true unfortunately +

but I'm proud to say that I'm not one o' those people

I barely listen to classical these days, really. It's all become too stale and predictable in comparison to all the jazz and fusion improvisatory goodness.

not that it's not good or anything, but that's not true classical music...

usually, shredders/metalheads etc... tend to listen to Baroque-era music (Bach, Vivaldi etc...) as well as Paganini (predominantly) from the Romantic-era.

I agree. Often when I'm in the car without a CD player I turn on NPR in hopes of hearing some Jazz as they periodically play it, but most often classical music is on. Unfourtanetly all but a few of the pieces that I hear are boring and have the sense that they are "trying too hard" or something. I really do not know how to describe it, it retains all the elements that I like to hear, but it sucks ass.

Yeah. Not all shredders, but there are a lot. Randy Rhoads, Yngwie Malmsteen, Micheal Schenker, and Steve Morse did it best. Ritchie Blackmore isn't a shredder, but he went for baroque. I think Steve Vai, Marty Friedman, and John Petrucci all like classical, but I'm not sure.

I think it takes a while for any one to warm to jazz, so they have to get past classical music first, although some people just hate it and go from blues to jazz. I still can't stand alot of jazz, but I'm just close minded.
