I have not got a good chance to try either out. My friend is telling me to go with the Fender, but I dont think it will have the distortion I want.

the fender really dosn't have that much distortion at all. i have had a chance to try both out and i highly recommend the b-52. you will have to buy better tubes though, the ones they put in them in the factory aren't that great.

I don't know about the B-52, but the Fender will NOT give you thrash metal tones.

You can get the balls to drop if you play around with the EQ and the Low end setting. I forget the name of it. For super heavy crunchy metal you might need an OD to add the crunch to it. Mine had the distortion I needed but that little crunch I wanted was there. An OD fixed that.
