I'd personally recommend it, some people may disagree with me but the JS series really isn't that bad... for a starter guitar you're not going to do much better!

it wont sound fantastic, but you can set it up to play easyily

looks cool, but you should really try to play it in person. i found the jackson necks to be pretty uncomfortable, that's why i got an ibanez
