whats the diff between heavy and light strings and what one sounds better?? i just wanted to know cause its time for new strings and i need some. thanks!!!
Heavy gauge strings handle downtuning better. Higher tension, I believe.

Light strings are slacker, let you bend more and in my experience have a typically "brighter", zingier tone.
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me: no, nor woman neither... nor women neither.
Lighter gauge strings are much easier to play than heavy gauge. So if you're in to soloing you might want some light gauge, or if you do detune than go with heavey gauge.
