It'll be about twice as loud.

2.5 is what I've heard people say the most.

is the cl;ass a tube just better than the other tube stuff or is it just a marketing scheme

I was under the impression that they are not too different. A and A/B are just different systems and I think A/B is more efficient or something like that. It may have to do with break up volume. I recall, but I'm not even like 50% certain if this person was telling the truth, that class A is a little louder.

Class A has all tubes running all the time.
Class A/B alternates between sets of tubes.

Give or take the amp model, 2.5 times the tube wattage is close to solid state wattage.
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

It depends mostly on the tubes. EL34 will be 3x as loud, EL84 2.5, and 6L6 twice as loud. I could have those numbers with the wrong tubes, but they're all 2-3x as loud and the point is that it varies.
