i don't want 10w amps, but i'm almost bankrupt so i'll need something that's better but still cheap. i think a 15-25w would be good, any recommendations?

i won't gig with this amp, and i play mostly metal but sometimes i do classic rock too.

thinking of:
-a 20w yamaha (forgot model, i think f-20 or 25)
-fender frontman 15g/r or 25r
-laney lx20 or lg20r
-a marshall?

what would you recommend? any other brands? i heard the roland cube's good but that's too expensive.

or should i get a used but better one?

thanks alot people

The Frontman (my first amp 'awwwwww') has a pretty decent gain, and if you get the '15r' then youll have reverb too! Dont get a Marshall at that price because we all know what model itll be: MG, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo. And with the Zoom (my first multi effects [are you me?]), itll sound good (the Fender I mean) it also has good cleans...so thatd be my best bet.
But why not splash out for a Cube or a Vox AD-15VT or something? It should be worth your while. Or save up for an even better one (Vox AD-50VT or something) or a Roland Cube 60.

keep searching ebay for roland cube 30w and dont bother with the 15w version cos apparently it sucks

if you trust ebay and dont mind getting used, id suggest a vox ad30vt. Im about to get one new, a nd ive heard only good things, except people constantly recommend me to save and get a better amp...but hell im gonna be in a dorm room, so I dont need anything big and/or that expensive...anywayz...

thats the best i could find on ebay...but its got 6 days left, 30$ shipping and its probably gonna go up a bit.

But keep your eyes open and see what comes up, or you can get something small and new of course, and theres nothing wrong with that :P

I had good luck with an 80 watt Fender with a single 10". MEEEAAN tone for metal.

Crate GT15 (very good clean) + FAB metal pedal (lot of distortion) = around 150$ or less

I got a Line 6 Spinder II 15watt dual channel amplifier for $120 at sam ash. I really like it, great distortion with a decent clean channel. Comes with a few presets and you can make your own.

But the sound is VERY processed, unless you can play like dream theater its gonna sound crap (like you wont be able to play cleanly enough to make your playing sound like a machine, like ol' Johnno of DT)

Yea, Spider II's sound like absolute garbage.

If you can muster up 200 (just a suggestion).. go after the Zoom Fire 30. The price may actually be lower now. The metal settings on that sound freaking sweeeeet when you adjust it right.

I have this one. $69 30watts 10inch Jensen Speaker. Its a pretty good amp. I wanted a Roland Cube 30, but settled for this.

These amps I found at MF. All I know about them is what I read online. The ones I like of these are: Roland Cube 15 and the Fender® 25R Frontman.
