With all the recent threads popping up on 9/11, i thought i'd jump on the bandwagon. So, what do you think happened on that day?
#3
The terrorists we're going to do it anyway, but the government didn't do enough to prevent what they knew on purpose so Bush had a way to divert attention away from the voting scandal and on to those "dirty towel heads'.

I's rather this be the definitive debate thread though.

What do I think happened? I think terrorists hijacked airplanes and crashed them into buildings.

It was five years ago, move on.

I agree with deslni01. Some terrorists managed to destroy american credibility

General Pinochet suceeded in a coup detat to seize control of Chile from it's legitimate socialist government and implement an opressive CIA sponsered Right wing military dictatorship.

so youre telling me Bush would rather deal with the loss of thousands of American lives and a war than a voting scandal

dude of course it was tragic but what he's saying is that **** like that happens all over the world everyday and the Americans are only thinking about 9/11 instead of all the other people that die in other countries. All they are doing in Iraq is killing innocents now.

No matter how you look at it the CIA was ultimately responsible. Personally, I think it was the American governenment but I'm not looking for an argument

Please use the search button. Theres about 12 of these threads every month. What happened? 4 planes crashed into a field, the pentagon, and the twin towers. Our nation shut down the flights everywhere, and we mourned the loss of our fellow Americans. That's part of what happened on September 11th.

EDIT: Sorry if I seemed kind of heartless on the subject, I in no way intended that.
#24
Guys frankly non of us is in a position to even begin to comment what happened, 'cause frankly non of us knows.
We're also in no position to judge each other.
I think what matters is to get on with life and to try to make it worth living.

(god that was soppy)

Quick fact, when all the flights were grounded, the average temperature for the whole world went down by roughly 1 degree centigrade.
#26
The only thing I know that definitely happened, is that when my history teacher walked out of the classroom in the morning, she said "something is going to go wrong today."
My name is Tom, feel free to use it.

its probable. i mean, the goverment can do pretty much anything it wants, even if it makes the country bankrupt in the future. Im pretty annoyed at the british goverment at the moment. I learned that due to some strange scheme the goverment is letting private investors pay for buildings and th goverment will pay them a lot more back over 30 years. there are a lot of these schemes going on. Inverness Airport for example. cost 9 million pounds to build. over 30 years, they would be payed 27 million to the company who built it. and they got all the airports profits. Then when budget airlines arrived the airport had no real choice but to use taxpayers money to pay off the contract. at least it brings about 100 million into the economy in Inverness and the highlands.

Shutup. Killing innocents? It's called a war. You know, where people die? In every modern war there have been civilian casualties. Plus, what do you define as innocent? It's not like every Iraqi "civilian" is openly welcoming US soldiers. I'm sure plenty have pointed them down paths with improvised bombs and stuff. Not to mention I'm sure most Iraqis are happier now that Saddams reign of terror is over and more and more areas of Iraq are recieving supplies and advances like running water and electricity where they have never been before. So shutup. 9/11 was a deliberate attack on thousands of innocent people at once, the war in Iraq is an attempt to help a poor, run-down country (I don't agree with it, but still, US soldiers aren't terrorists.)

All i know about 9/11 is that a lot of innocent people died for no good reason. (getting 72 virgins in heaven is a rubbish reason, you can do that on earth if your horny enough). its not a subject that i like to talk about. and to the people who say move on, i can see your point, thinking that we should build a better future rather than being stuck in the past, but some of the victims families and friends, and some witnesses, could be haunted by 9/11 for the rest of their lives, and those people will find it near impossible to move on.

of course there are also people who wont move on because they want revenge on the people who planned 9/11 that arent dead (cant do much about a dead terrorist. he (or she like the theartre attack in Russia, where a lot of innocent people died because the soldiers had no idea on how to let the people recover from the sleeping gas they used to enter the building safely) is dead). Revenge is something im not going to get into because i see both the pros and cons of it, and i get confused.

Wikipedia sez:
"Out of the Loop is the debut album from synthpop band I Am the World Trade Center. This album gathered enormous controversy after the 9/11 attacks due to the bands name and the coincidental title of thier 11th track, "September". The band was seen as gathering shameless attention out of the attacks but in actuality the album was released almost two months before the incident."

"Slayer's album God Hates Us All was incidentally released on September 11, 2001. In a foreboding fashion, it contained lyrics such as "terrorist, pacifist targeting the next mark." To market the album, faux concert tickets were distributed stating, "Slayer, God Hates Us All, September 11, 2001."

"The album Party Music by political hip-hop group The Coup was released later than originally intended and with different cover art. The original cover art, designed in June 2001, featured the members of The Coup posing in front of twin exploding skyscrapers that strongly resembled the World Trade Center."

"Live Scenes From New York , a 3 CD live album by progressive metal band Dream Theater was originally released on September 11, 2001, but when it was noticed that the cover artwork depicted the twin towers of the World Trade Center in flames, it was recalled and re-released a short time later."

"On September 19 and 20, Laurie Anderson recorded a live album in New York City (released in 2002 as Live at Town Hall). One of the songs performed, O Superman, dating back to 1980, included the lyrics "Here come the planes/So you better get ready." A later lyric goes "Here come the planes/they're American planes/made in America/Smoking or non-smoking?" The song had been a major hit for Anderson 20 years earlier, and she had only recently began performing it again prior to the attacks. "

"The ska-punk band Leftover Crack released their album Mediocre Generica on September 11, 2001. The original title of the album, changed shortly before its release, was **** World Trade. An album by that name was later released by the band in 2004. "

The Eagles were supposed to record on September 11, 2001, but decided against it out of respect for those who suffered. Ironically they had already written New York Minute years before which unknowingly described some of September 11, 2001.

"British electro-rock group Primal Scream had a track called Bomb The Pentagon which they started playing live in September 2001."

An idiot might look at all this and conclude that there was some sort of conspiracy involving the music industry that brought on 9-11. Its easy to make a case about conspiracies. Dont be fooled by movies like 'Loose Change" its just a bunch of garbage. Like when they assert that the planes were actually radio-controlled. A gullible person accepts it as actually possible. But controlling a plane going hundreds of miles per hour down NYC couldnt be done via radio control. Anyhoo, as they say the simplest answer is the most likely one, and that would be that some terrorists flew planes into a very large building.

I think we got bombed by some neusences we go over there we kick ass. Every1 saying that it happened differentlyis a nut. Bush didn't plan this like I've heard alot of people say. And if he did instead of preaching about how he sucks so much then go for impeachment. Instead of blasting our motush off do something bout it. Otherwise who gives a crap.
