Its really not that hard as long as you have a good needle tip soldering iron and good schematics. What kinda pedal do u wanna build?
#5
eh i was thinkin a fuzz pedal probably.

EDIT- how much u think it would cost?

No. Some have screws where you can replace tips, so it may just need to be tightened. Did you see the fuzz schematic on that site?
#9
yea im lookin at it but the part i dont get is the board and all the **** on it.

like im the kinda guy who need to know where the signal goes through and what does what and stuff.

Ok...the board is a pcb board, which is something you can get at radioshack for $2. It is plastic (i think) with brass inserts in which you put the leads (the wires coming from the components) and wires coming from the input/output jacks, the battery, and the potentiometer. The switch is a double pole, double throw switch, which is also something you can get at radioshack for a first build, cuz its cheaper incase you screw up. The little white-ish things with rings are resistors. Below is a link for a resistor calculator and a site to order a bunch of the parts from. Q1 and Q2 are transistors, which for this particular pedal have to be germanium. the blue things are capacitors, and te big silver things with three wire are potentiometers, which is what is behind the knob on amps and stuff. As far as where the signal goes, thats hard to explain. Just trace it on the diagram. Just build it dude. It is fun and much cheaper then buying one. If you got anymore questions, pm me.

If its a first build, dont spent $10 on a heavy duty switch untill yo uknow for sure that its gonna work. Just get a cheap dpdt swich.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM RADIOSHACK!
It's way overpriced.

And even if you do give them a list, they're likely to give you the wrong stuff.
Radioshack DOES NOT sell stomp switches. They aren't strong enough.
Aron from diystompboxes sells cheaper, but high quality 3pdts.
dpdts can be found at smallbearelec.

PARTS:

Resistors:

1 - 830kohms
1 - 10Kohms
1 - 100Kohms
1 - 360 ohms

Capacitors

2 - o.15 uF (electrolytic or similar)

Transistor

1 - 2n5088 (commonly found)

Potentiometer(s)

1 - 100kohm log (i prefer Alpha pots)

Other

1 - Hammond 1590BB Alluminium Enclosure
1 - Switchcraft Mono 1/4" Jack
1 - Switchcraft Stereo 1/4" Jack
1 - Carling DPDT Heavy duty Stomp switch
1 - 9v Battery snap (try to get the hard plastic type,
the others seem to break off after a few changes).
1 - Perfboard.a small sized one like at
small bear's catalog is enough.
1 - Knob (buy according to the shaft width of the
potentiometer you bought)
? - Wire. 22AWG, solid core makes for easier soldering,
buy colors!
1 - Soldering Iron, 20-50w, try to get a "needle" tip.
? - Solder, rosin core, a small "tube" coil
is enough for a box.
