The last bit of the solo is the exact same riff as the intro to "day tripper". An homage? A rip-off?. whats the deal?
Well a cover really, but if you want one or the other then homage; the 60s blues/rock scene was massively incestuous and everyone knew everyone. Clapton was best friends with George Harrison and mates with the Rolling Stones (though I don't know who the guitarist was for "What'd I Say", coudl you shed some light?).
Various bands like the Bluesbreakers, Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated, Manfred Mann's Earth Band and the Graham Bond Organisation all had revolving line-ups that were pretty much interchangeable, so lots of them covered each other's songs and the same old ones like "What'd I Say" and occasionally did both, as the Bluesbreakers did here.
There's an April Wine song that uses that riff at the end as well. I forget the title.

EDIT: "I Like to Rock"
"There's Jimmy Page, one of the biggest thieves of American black music to ever walk the Earth."
