I'm curious about building a 335-style semi-hollowbody.

I know that the top and back are 5-ply maple veneers, and that the top isn't carved. My questions are as follows:

1. are the top/sides heat bent or is a vacuum press used?
2. are the individual layers of the top/sides pre-bent and glued or is the laminated 5-ply piece bent as one?
3. Are the sides also laminated?

It seems that people pay a whole lot extra for flamed/figured maple, but I'm guessing the other 4 layers of the laminate are plain-jane maple, is this true?

Any answers or links to other posts/tutorials would be appreciated. I'm not going to start building any time soon but I want to do my research
