Anyone heard of it/played it, hows the tremolo, can it take lighter gauge strings, hows the guitar in overall, can it be played in standard tuning, what are the specs?

You can't say alder is a "bad" wood. Tone is all preference, its like saying you prefer apples over oranges (I happen to love oranges btw). As for me, I've used mostly Alder guitars. I just prefer the tone I can get.
