Well Mqwathi I have listened to your CSIT and loved it! And I am going to do a cover of Powerslave for the Iron Maiden contest that has just been started! So it should be good and the first solo is my favourite solo ever so it should be good!! Have you got any advice regarding a maiden tone?

Maiden tone is fairly balanced. I usually had the gain at about 7, bass 6, mid 6, treble 6/7 for the rythm parts. For lead generally with Maiden songs I boost the mids a little more and add some delay. Depends on what gear you're using though, I can't really say if that's gonna work for you.

In general though just try keep things balanced and somewhat bright, with a touch more mids during lead parts.

Also keep in mind that for most of their songs Dave solos with the neck pickup and Adrian uses the bridge pickup. For that first mellow solo in Powerslave use the neck pickup and quite a bit of delay or reverb.

Cheers Mqwathi, I knew about their tendencies with pickups I just wanted a general Eq setting so that was rather usefu; thank you very much! I must say that i do love your cover of seventh son it is great!

RE-EDIT: Scratch that, I can do it.

Holy crap... I have the greatest idea, but I don't have a drum or bass player to help me.. or a keyboard or whammy bar for my guitar xD If I did I was gonna do a cover of what I think another band covering a song would sound like.... Oh well, cool idea and good luck to the contestants!
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

Can I get in on this? If so... mark me down for Bark at the Moon by Ozzy. I'll have a recording by the end of today.
