so... I just listened to the new PG album get out of my yard and I have to say, IT BLEW ME AWAY!

1. get out of my yard. 8/10
Total ****ing shred fest, crazy sounds, pattented PG style... great intro! Quote from PG himself: "The first 38 seconds of GET OUT OF MY YARD are impossible to play. But I played them. And you can listen. Get ready, and..."

2. hurry up! 8/10
really nice riff, great layered guitar tracks. Really funny moments.(kwek-kwek-kwek...)
I'm already sure this instumental album will never bore me for one sec.
2.16 the guitar solo is coming in....blasting over a heavy back track. PG goodness.

3. the curse of the castle dragon 9/10
heavy metal riffage. really rocking track. Racer x is popping up. It becomes moreprogrockish. Unisono bass/guitar runs that blow me away. Awesome solo! This is what I like PG for!

4. radiator 7.5/10
layed-down intro. Followed by a more bluesy song. Slowest song so far. Great fast legato solo! nice slow riff in this song. Not as catchy as the other songs but still great. 1:25 > really nice breakdown! song gets more interesting. Best solo so far imo.

5. Straight through the telephone pole 9.5/10
Riff somehow reminding me of led zeppelin, followed by nice harmonized leads. Nice use of the acousic guitar. This track really rocks. I'm sure his fingers hurt after recording this. Led zep feel gets back on me. I'm sure this is gonna be one of my favourite songs. Great guitar improve in the middle of the song. Most catchy song so far.

6. Marine layer 7/10
acoustic song with guitar + piano. sounds really nice. (never heard a piano in a PG song before I think...). This is a great song... this could be an even better song with Eric Martin on vocals (great ballad). But this is still quite interesting. A calm moment after the rocking. his wife how plays the piano. (too bad snowballofdoom, you can't marry paul anymore now, he's taken)

7. twelve twelve 6/10
really heavy slow song. Sounds like an improvisation over a slow backtrack, but still really good. I love his guitar tone. I think it's the least interesting song on the album so far, sorry Paul. It just isn't a great song, it's a great solo but not a great song.

8. rusty old boat 9.5/10
funky track this is! Nice organ sounds in it. 3:05> Paul kicks off! returning to the funk... this is one of my favourites. Audience noises, sounds cool. Some amazing riffs!
again, the band plays extremely well! The organ reminds me a lot of deep purple in the good old days. Again his wife now plays the organ and she is really good.

9. the echo song 9/10
Nice use of the echo effect (as aspected). He's making it sound like Van Halen did once... electro sounds... I'm wondering if he is even using echo that much... I guess he is trying to immitate an echo effect. I enjoy this track very much, very adventurous(sp?).

10. full tank
7.5/10
Really heavy stuff... which I like. I just can't stop myself from headbanging! I like how the slow rythmn really gets through to me. Really great song! he is really making his guitar scream after 1:00! Nice ending how I like my endings...heavy with lots of shredding.

11. my teeth are a drum set 8/10
faster song, I was hoping for that. It's really rocking. The riff is really catchy, I just need to learn that riffing. Cowbell appears, you can't go wrong with a cowbell can you? 1:45> nice breakdown, followed by a shredding solo and a great drumbeat.

12. hydon symphony no. 88 finale 9/10
classical intermezzo played on guitar like PG has done before. Like the thing like this he did before it great to listen to. He can make all those layers of guitar sound like a symphonic orchestra! don't know if hydon is the composer, it's very mozart-like.

13. three E's for Edward 9.5/10
acoustic guitar track. I guess this one goes out to Edward van Halen (aka Eddy) although I'm not sure about that. What I'm sure of is that PG can't really shred it up on an acoustic guitar. 1:25> just WOW! I'm already falling in love with this track!

14. you kids 9.5/10
last song on the album and rocking like PG never rocked before! This is gonna be one of the more famous songs off the album I guess. I know I love it (cowbell...duh!). Great song to headbang to! Great shredding in this one! 2:15> PG IS MY GOD!

overall, The album really impressed me! Everybody should get it! It didn't bore me for a single second. Remember this was just my first listen to it, I'm sure it will grow on me a lot!

the album: 8.4/10

I have already pre-ordered it off amazon and I'm really looking forward to recieving it. I believe track twelve is called Haydn symphony no. 88 finale. And yes Haydn is a composer.

1. Don't double post.

2. Probably not since it recently came out, but there could be.

Anyways, I'm planning to order this CD at Borders the same time I order Blackberry Jams.

Yeah, but he uses a guitar tuned in octaves for it.

Pretty cool, just hasn't got the tone I love Gilbert for. Still a good album.

I didn't like space ship one like I did older stuff... too poppy for my tastes...

In fact I think this is the best PG release to date! I like racer x but the vocals don't do it for me... mr. big is a bit to hairmetal to me... his solo stuff was cool but I don't like his vocals...

I'm in love with get out of my yard!

I just hope you got an import and paid for it legally and didn't leech it off torrents or p2p networks flamencogod.

On that note, I usually download one song from an album and see what it's like before buying, even though I'll probably end up eventually buying it anyway (once I get a job...)

If it's an artist I'm unfamiliar with (particularly metal) I'll download one (MAYBE two) from each album and get a feel for them.

I quite rarely download full albums though.

i never download full albums because they're usually of poor play quality and are all together in one file, which irritates me - usually one or two songs

I have it! Oh Yeah!

The story of how it came into my hands is as follows:

Yesterday I was in town "loitering" with friends. Nothing strange there. We decided to go to a small music shop, well, actually a cellar(its called sound cellar...) and was the place I got Perpetual Burn ages ago.

Upon entering on your left there is a case full of "shred"(Racer X,Vai,Malmsteen and good ol' Gilberto himself). I looked briefly through it noticing "The Flying Dog" and thinking about a future purchase. My friend, who've I've recently pointed in the direction of PG and Mr.Big casually was like "so,are you gonna get his new album?"...

I was immediately like "OMG OMG where!" Knowing its not due in Europe for another week and a bit and even the possibilities of it reaching these shores and in particular this shop were slim to none(slim facing suicidal thoughts). After pointing Get Out of My Yard to me I was astounded. This shop was now my favourite music shop undisputedly. After asking the shop attendant the price(?24,steep but soooo worth it) I promised to return.

Today I went in and bought it(yes not ordered from the Internet ot long waiting periods for release dates!) and it was indeed so,so worth it.

I got it too, pretty good stuff. I've never been a huge fan of his tone though, too sharp for me. Loved Three E's for Edward though
I have nothing to put in here.
