Hi guys, Ive recently found this great sound card, it also has a separate external device which is handy. It has got 2 line ins... so i think that would be great.

However i am in a dilemma, because as far as i understand, i need mixers/pre amps to make this rig effective (guitar==>pre amp/mixer==>line in). So which ones should i get for the mixer/ pre amp???

would this do the job

or maybe this can do it without the extra money?? im just basically gonna use this anyway for guita/base recorings... no mic whatsoever

should this be able to give me a low enough latency??? (like 2-3ms) cuz currently 7ms for me is a bit annoying biggrin.gif

Holy crap! I just bought one of those exact things today (the sound card and audio iinterface (or breakout box)). I picked mine off for about £40 :-D.

I would say get the mixer as it would be better in the long run. If you ever come to record you band or anything then you will be able to record all instruments at the same time n stuff (appart from drums as you will need 6+ just for that).

I haven't got round to getting the mixer as I have not yet installed my card due to a missing cable. The £40 looks pretty sweet though.

Ask if you need some more help n stuff (I will if i can)

yesh, ive been looking at just buying the sound card with the audio interface with it since the mixer would prolly be a surplus to my needs. I use guitar rig software, and would directly connecting my guitar to the audio interface line-in provide me with good enough sound?? or would it not??? If i dont need to then heh, id reserve buying the mixer for another day =) (maybe next month lol)

Yeah the Audigy 2 ZS PP has 24bit recording with 192kbp/s @ 108dB. That's nearly studio quality!.

The Mixer is not a necessity, but it will make a difference. I look forward to getting mine up and running, and I will let you know (if you like) how it is. Its had fairly mixed reviews but a friend of mine has one and he says its great and you can upgrade the interface if you want to aswell.

yeah, keep me posted with your progress because i really am planning to buy one of these things... it really looks good, and the fact that its gonna be a bonus for me being a gamer... its priceless

and oh, im planning to get a digital drum kit mabe next year.. so this should probably lessen the need for 6+ channels... =D

You have 3 options for best sound + lowest latency:

1- PreSonus Firebox or M-Audio Firewire SOLO
2- M-Audio Audiophile 2496 + a cheap mixer like Behringer MX602A or UB1002
3- E-MU 1212m + Behringer DI100 Directbox

Stay away from anything by Creative . Trust me!!!
