Ok, for about a month now I've been noting a lot of buzz on my MG (yes I know. MG. Don't lecture or recommend a new amp.), and I just figured there was something wrong with it. However, today I noticed that the buzz completely disappears when I have the strings on my guitar muted well. When i unmute them, the buzz comes right back. A small bit of crackling as well.

Can pickups cause humming like this, or is it something on the amp that is just affected by the muted strings?

My pickups are just stock Chinese humbuckers. Nothing special. But, they've never done this before. The buzzing just started up about a month ago. I've had my MG for 3 months and the amp for a year and a few months.

So, are the pickups to blame, or is it the amp?

My guitar HAS humbuckers. If it had singlecoils I wouldn't be worried about it. But, since it has humbuckers, I figured I better look into it a bit and make sure there isn't something wrong.
