Yes. When I think Wayne Static I automatically think tone.

Great, great tone. From a great, great player. In a great, great band.

Eric Johnson is no match for the mighty Wayne Static that's for sure.

^ so? he also has crap tone...

Why don't you give me your CE-24?

I think you'd be just as well off with a Squier Affinity Strat.

MGs are crap. The only thing they're okay for is practise. And they suck at that too. They're just plain crap. I'd just save up my money.

Yep. He's got balls alright, to start a thread on a forum largely infested with 14 year old know-nothing sheep.

I commend him.

i actually like some SS tones for certain things (industrial metal, etc)

for cleans, its all about the tube

They're decent practice amps but otherwise, there are better amps out there.

When my friend got an MG half stack I thought it was alright. I think we were just desperate to have a half stack in the band and everything. Then I moved and got my half stack (Peavey XXL/Random cabs that I switch out alot) and I should shoot myself for ever thinking that MG sounded good.

not true the Roland Jazz Chorus amps are solid states and they have the best cleans i have ever heard.

and yes MGS are crap there are good solid state amps Randall makes them but mostly tube is the way to go

its all part of the growing process. Once you start to get an "ear" for music, you'll more than likely want a MUCH better amp

im not going to say that the particular amp you've mentioned doest have good cleans, but its widely accepted that Frender, Vox, and Mesa have amazing cleans, which i prefer, and those are all tube amp

besides the Mark and F series the mesa amps cleans are lacking. and yes i wont deny Fender and Vox have great cleans its just i think the rolands are better its all personel preference you may prefer the other

depends what cleans you're talking about too. For the chimey straight up clean, SS can do well. For the bluesy dirty clean, there really is nothing like a tube at the point of saturation. Just your picking dynamics can really effect the chime or dirt.

has anyone ever read the reviews on the MG's? That should be enough to deter anyone without even trying it out. Lots of people have had problems with a fan in the halfstack model that can cause fires. =\

In terms of a first amp its sort of a reference. You know, this know creates distortion, this effect sounds like this. But as you progress you can also hear much better sounding amps. Its not the worst amp out there, but you can get a better amp as your first amp.
