I found this guitar on ebay selling for £190 including shipping.

It claims to be a Gibson Les Paul, but fails to mention what model. I'm a bit of a noob at this sort of thing, so I though I'd ask if anyone can spot anything obviously wrong with it, or why it's selling so cheap. I'm very suspicious because of the price.

I'll probably ask the seller a few questions about it later on. If it's good, I'm planning on selling it again at a higher price, but I don't see why it's selling so cheap if I could sell it again for more.

I hope this is the right forum, if not, direct me to the right place with minimal flaming please.

Cheers.

It says that it's a Jimi Page model, but it seems suspicious that it has a buy it now price of 9 pounds. I dunno, it's a Gibson in the picture.

Looks like another Chinese guitar scam. It says its from the US, but all the description is clearly translated (poorly) from another language, probably Chinese. Definately a fake, one to avoid

wow, that looks pretty real to me, although the headstock looks like it "flares" out too much at the top. The picture of it when its lain down makes it look a bit like an agile. I'm not a full-on gibson expert but it looks pretty genuine

the descriptions are EXACTLY the same...... i wonder if this may be a scam?!?!

What the fuck is a wasbone?
#16
^x2 i dont think so.... i googled the serial number on the back of the headstock and came up with nothing relating to the gibson company.... i gonna try to find the Serial # of a Jimi Page LP and ill get back to you
#17
Trust me, it's a scam. Scam, scam, scam. If you believe one thing in your life, believe me now. It's a scam. There are loads of these Chinese ripoff selling. You can even get Ibanez Jems. The guitars are actually meant to be OK if you throw some half decent p'ups in, and if they aren't decent, just get the eBay police onto it .

I'm wondering whether it's good enough to sell for more money, 'cause I don't actually want a Les Paul, I need money for a chapman stick.

Maybe I can sell it to a friend...

its a scam..... The actual Jimi Page Les Pauls that gibson put out have the serial number "JPP 484" on the back of the head stock and are sold for thousands..... this has a completely diferent # on the headstock and is priced for so little.......FINAL ANSWER = SCAM

God what is wrong with you people and business minds.

Nobody here can tell what's wrong with the guitar except the description.

So why not you people go buy it, put it on ebay and pretend it's real.

because it isnt real
you can tell by a bunch of things....even the color is wrong for a Jimi Page model

They might be stollen... I know people divert shoe and clothing shippments to sell at fractions of the retail price.

Gosh you don't get it, do you.

You aren't going to copy the description and say it's a jimi page model.

Well i don't see any obvious fake things from the guitar anyway, and they wouldn't be able to do so anyway with a lower quality camera.
#26
Are the pick-ups meant to be different colours and have writting on them? And why is there this odd little sticker off the side of the the pick-guard?
Don't the dials look odd?
#28
Anyone know what model it most closely represents? If I buy it and sell it I at least want to know what model it is.

The websites on the pictures are suspicious:
www.musoland.com doesn't exist yet
www.muso.com.cn isn't really a site and it's in Chinese

Lol, that's true, I hadn't noticed that.

well its obviously a scam. i mean you know its a chinese fake because the humbuckers are different colors. a real gibson always has matching humbuckers
#34
^actually, Jimmy Page models normally have an open bridge pickup as he broke the pickup cover off his own model. But i think we can all agree that it's a scam!

actually the jimmy page model has the neck humbucker with the chrome over and the bridge humbucker with none sortof exposed like on the sg faded series. I saw one like that in guitar center (with how the humbuckers are) The only thing that throws it off is the color. But I'll try to find out more....

The headstock doesn't look quite right on it. And the truss rod cover appears (although I could be wrong since the pic is so small) to be the wrong shape, and possibly held on by 3 screws instead of 2. Also, the fret work doesn't seem right for a Gibson, but again, hard to tell since the pics don't show the frets in detail.

I'd say it's a fake.

Got this pic from the Gibson site.

Yeh that guitar on ebay definetely looks dodge to me. The Jimmy Page Gibsons are quite pricey. Much more than the standard Les Pauls. And the one in the pic above looks alot better and alot different.

also in the jimmy page sig by gibson behind the neck on the grover tuners they still have the holes in it from the stock ones that were in the 1958 standard becuase thats how he customized it so they kept them in the sig and in this ebay thing they don't have that
