Hell yeah! Artimus Pyledriver is sick. Norma Jean is from Georgia, but I don't think they really show any Southern influences. Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child is their only record worth listening to.

I saw Maylene the other night for the first time and they played the most fun set I have ever seen. I have never seen so many kids singing along and just having fun, most usually just stand around at shows. ALot of my friends hated Maylene before they saw them now they love them.

Yeah man, both those bands are local. Vanna is getting big because they got signed to Epitaph, which means all the scene trash girls with shotgun blast haircuts go to see them.

Yea I agree I'm from Montgomery and the scene is growing. Alabama in general has a large number of Southern Metal bands. Check out Remove The Veil http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=8386001&MyToken=a1e638ed-492c-4af4-a3df-0690f5fc2789

He Is Legend has their southern moments. Their new record is supposed to be alot more southern though.
This is all an elaborate scheme.
#28
yeah i love He Is Legend...Uhmmm Norma Jean is another favorite of mine...The Jonbenet...and...Remove the Veil...are two pretty good southern rock influenced hardcore bands that i know of...check them out...they kick so much ass.
#29

I second that. They are incredible live.

I get to see The Showdown, Remove the Veil, Fixed til Tuesday, and a bunch of other southern bands in a few weeks at fish fest in Tuscaloosa woot!
Remove the Veil and Fixed Til Tuesday are both amazing live; however, and I got to meet the Showdown and I've heard them play 2 songs live but I imagine they are mind blowing cause Chorus Of Obliteration is amazing.
#32
^the showdown are great guys....davey (the singer) has the greatest accent ever

There is a band called Nashville Pussy. They aren't as heavy as Maylene, but still pretty cool.

What about Torche? I don't know if this is the right forum. Also, He Is Legend put another new song on their myspace. It's a continuation of The Seduction(even has the 'you know you want it' lyrics), but it is more southern. It's good stuff.

kids like us has an intense southern rock two step.

Doomriders Are From Boston

You don't have to be from the South to make gnarly Soutern music!
#40
True, but i just dont hear or see how Doomriders are "southern". I think i am missing something here. If anyone can give me a good definition of Southern music please do.
