i need to know a good amp that would sound great for metal, punk rock, and harcore. i am buying a gibson sg gothic II with EMG's and i like heavy distortion, and some good cleans, too. my main choices are a peavey 120 watt tube triple xxx head with the cab and a marshall jcm 2000 triple super lead 100 watt tube head with 1960A cab. thanks.

go for the marshal, but id get a DSL over a TSL becuase the DSL tends to have better tone.

i just find them to sound a bit fuller and the channels are voiced better, but you should really try both and see which you prefer, since tone is really subjective.

If you want good cleans, then why are you looking at EMG's?

Seriously, I'm tired of people saying that EMGs have crappy cleans just because they heard someone else say that. EMGs have some of the best cleans that you can get, you just need to know how to EQ your stuff. But anyways, go for the Peavey.
