Now, I'm going to use this thread for two reasons.

1. To review the James Gang concert I just went to last Friday.
2. To discuss the greatness of the James Gang and Joe Walsh's solo career.

So, here we go

James Gang- Beacon Theater, 8/18

One word: AMAZING. I had ninth row seats, on the aisle, so the view was great. The sound was loud, but not too loud, and very clear. I took a throwaway camera with me, and took plenty of pictures, all of which I will share on here once I get them back. I also managed to grab a setlist sheet from off the soundboard (TheHeartbreaker- if you remember in I think the Allman Bros thread I was talking about them taping setlists to the floor on stage and around the soundboard...well, I just walked up to the soundboard after the show and took it ).

Setlist was as follows:
Walk Away
Take A Look Around
Midnight Man
Asshtonpark (spelled Asheton Park on the sheet)
The Bomber
Garden Gate
Ashes, The Rain, and I
Tend My Garden
Stop-->
You're Gonna Need Me
Lost Woman
Funk 49

Rocky Mountain Way
Goin' Down

The band was very tight throughout the night, and my eyes were constantly focused on Joe Walsh, as to be expected knowing me The Bomber was loud and rocking, Stop and You're Gonna Need Me were filled with great lead guitar from Joe (especially Joe's scat singing with his lead in Stop), Lost Woman was a lot of fun to hear (Joe did some crazy stuff during this song) as was Funk 49. Rocky Mountain Way was loud, and the crowd was into it, everyone was singing. Overall, it was a great show, I had a lot of fun.

2nd. What does everyone here think of Joe Walsh? James Gang? Personally, as you might have guessed, I love both. Thoughts? Favorite songs? Albums?

Ahhh the best group that couldnt get no groupies... or so they said. Man Joe Walsh may be one of the best American guitarists of all time. Not enough respect for him outside the Eagles. He would have made a great president....

Joe Walsh the only man that can make song sound sloppy and dead on at the same time.
favourite songs by the Walshster are The Bomber, Garden Gates, Last Resort, Walk Away and my bands favourite song to play, and a definite crowd pleaser, Funk #49

Rocky Mountain way is a cool song, Joe was good in the Eagles, but hes better in James Gang and in his solo career. Ive got to get a James Gang CD my dad had one but he sold it. Recomendations?

I've always wondered how Joe became such an awful singer. His voice was great with The James Gang. First Barnstorm album, crap! Barnstorm, The Eagles and his solo career were great, bust seriously, what the hell happened to his voice?

That's awesome.

I love The James Gang, but I'll admit I haven't really listened to Joe's solo abums much.

Hopefully I'll be able to catch them sometime if they come by.

Rides Again and Yer Album, or if you can find it, Live at Carnegie Hall. Thirds was ok, it's got Walk Away and Midnight Man, but the first two albums were much better.

the show was short, only about an hour and a half including the encores, but they completely rocked. The Bomber was amazing.

that's a Walsh solo song, so I didn't expect to hear it. Rocky Mountain Way is a different story cause that's like...more popular than any of the actual James Gang's songs. Walsh did do a little tease of Over and Over from But Seriously Folks... during Lost Woman (atleast I think it was Lost Woman) which was completely awesome.

^^ The Gang only recorded three studio and one live album with Walsh, so over time, it would probably be easy to get them all

They did continue with other guitarists, but I have no interest in those albums.

Don't know much about Walsh's solo career, but I love the stuff he did with the Eagles. Judging from that, and the two solo songs Rocky Mountain and Life's Been Good, I would say Walsh is an amazing guitarist!

How de fook did I miss this thread?

Ahh, they played the Bomber, sick. Probably my favorite song by them. The whole setlist looks enjoyable. He played Stop too! Disgusting.

Was there a recording by any chance?

psychodelia, yes there was a recording and I downloaded the day after the show The setlist was great, I just wish they threw in Woman, or even Fred. That would have made the show perfect.

EDIT: want a link to it? Or send over AIM?
EDIT 2: I don't have the pictures from this show, but they're on their way. I haven't went digital yet, so I have to wait for the disposable to be developed. That being said, it still has one remaining picture to be taken

Joe Walsh is cool, dammit. He plays awesome guitar, writes great songs, and has one of the coolest voices I've ever heard.

The James Gang ane Joe Walsh are awesome. Looks like they played a great set too. Joe Walsh is a really good performer.

On a side note, I recently bought "There Goes The Neighbourhood" and "Now Seriously, Folks..." on LP. I haven't listened to them yet though, as I have got loads of LPs that haven't been listened to or recorded to MP3 yet, and today I caught the stylus on my turntable and so I'm gonna go get another tomorrow...

^^It's "But Seriously Folks..."

I love But Seriously Folks. It's a more mellow Walsh, but it still rocks, At the Station is one of my favorites. I don't own There Goes The Neighborhood though.

I found an album of theirs in my dad's cd collection. I think it's called Joe Walsh/The James Gang All the Best. Something like that. I think its a greatest hits but I can't find the album cover on the internet.

Just bought the Joe Walsh Anthology. 2 CDs, 34 songs, and it includes his solo stuff along with some James Gang stuff.

I try to stay away from "Greatest Hits" albums, but I couldn't pass this one up.

My favorite song has to be Walk Away.
